Tanya Ling Studio is delighted to announce Cutlura Scultura a solo exhibition of new work curated by Angelo Milano, director of Studio Cromie.

Sculpture has been a key element in Tanya’s practice, the production of which Tanya approaches with a rare confidence. There is no hesitation in her approach and no end to her inventiveness. As with her celebrated series of Line Paintings, within this group of new works, we witness her ability to create an infinite variety and sense that she is channelling a supernatural power and energy.

‘During the process of making I feel that I’m discovering something that is already there and when finished these works are sending messages, but I have no idea what these messages are, or to whom they are intended. Once completed, it’s as if they don’t really have anything to do with me other than that I brought them into existence’, Tanya Ling, Grottaglie, July 2024.

Studio Cromie is a silkscreen print studio and gallery located in a five-hundred-year-old stone ceramics factory found in the heart of Grottaglie, Puglia. The town is known throughout Italy for its myriad ceramic studios. Tanya has collaborated with local artisans to create seven new ceramic sculptures that will be exhibited alongside new paintings.

Studio Cromie has emerged from a local DIY scene of artists, filmmakers, fashion designers and musicians to become a creative enterprise that publishes prints and presents exhibitions by world renowned creative talent including JR, Paul Kremer, Matt Kleberg and Swoon.

Language of Line

Lyndsey Ingram
20 Bourdon Street
London W1K 3PJ

14th March – 26th April  2024

Preview: Wednesday 13th March, 6-8pm

Tanya Ling Studio is delighted to announce Tanya’s participation in Language of Line at Lyndsey Ingram. Ling’s Line Paintings, drawings of sculptures that don’t exist and a single oil painting, will be shown for the first time alongside works by Aimée Parrott (b. UK, 1987) and Elliott Puckette (b. USA, 1967).

Whilst being an exhibition focused on painting in the traditional sense, the show includes elements of printmaking, collage, needlework, carving and drawing, demonstrating how these artists push the boundaries of two-dimensional work. Drawing on the historical importance of figures like Helen Frankenthaler and Lee Krasner, the artists balance a spontaneous approach to applying marks with complex narratives and personal experience. An emphasis on linear mark-making unites Ling, Parrott and Puckette in their respective practices.
